One Year Blogging (Award)

Somehow I only write this blog when my travel blog gets nominated for blogger awards… (Sorry, I have meant to write more and I will try to write more in the future!) So, you may not be surprised that I am back here writing because lovely blogger behind Teacakesand nominated me for Blogger Recognition Award! Remember to check out her blog because even if she is just starting she is amazing writer. (And who wouldn’t love blog talking about travelling and tea?)

How my blog started?

I think the timing for this is too good to be true. I started my blog GoTravelGlobal  one year ago. (4.2.2016) How did that happen? I have no idea… I had returned from Japan a few months back and had still my ‘after long time travel depression’. I have always been person who writes when they are stressed, sad, happy or literally just feeling anything. So I started my blog to collect some memories I had in Japan, share new memories because I was already planning my new trip to France and of course to learn English.

At first my blog was meant for just myself. You know a little bit like diary so I could return to my memories later on when I am too old to remember anything. (I can’t usually even remember what I did last weekend so this is probably a good plan…) I was even embarrassed and I still am because my English has too many mistakes and the things I write are sometimes just plainly boring.

So my blog which currently has over 1 500 readers (how the heck did that happen??) and that I write two times every week was once just something small I decided to do for myself. If I can do this and meet some amazing people because I keep writing, anyone can do it!

Advice For New Bloggers:

I don’t know if I am the right person to give advice. I just go with the flow. Keep writing and don’t care what others say but always remember to be nice for everyone. This may sound corny but it is the simple truth.

I have seen some bloggers who either change their style depending what the readers like OR start ignoring all people reading their blog. Find the right balance between is my advice. Keep being you and writing things you love while using your own voice. And at the same time listen your readers even the ones who have different point of view from yours. Always answer to everyone who takes their time to comment your writings and maybe even check out their blog. Be kind to everyone but don’t try too hard to make everyone like you.

Sorry… This didn’t probably make any sense!

And now to the part I always find hard to do… Nominating blogs! I may be a little bit socially awkward so usually I just don’t do this part. However there is so many amazing blogs I have just found or that I have been reading for a while that I wanted to tell them how much I appreciate their writings. So remember to check out these amazing seven blogs I collected to nominate!

Kasiawrites

The Bubbly Traveler

Zo Around The World

Traveling Matters to us

Sweater Giraffe Travels

Shy Backpack

DreamsVoyager

.        .        .

If you want to be involved in the Blogger Recognition Award these are some simple rules:

Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

Write a post to show your award.

Give a brief story of how your blog started.

Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

Select 10 other bloggers you want to give this award to.

Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

So thank you for everyone reading this blog or my GOTRAVELGLOBAL blog. I hope you are having an amazing day! (And btw I would love you forever if you followed my blog’s Facebook! No worries I am not going to spam your page but you will get my newest travel post two times every week.)
With love,

Versatile Blogger Award

Hello everyone!

I know I’m lacking at this writing thing here (don’t roll your eyes when I say I have been busy…) But now I’m back because lovely Alice from Alicevsthethew0rld has nominated me for Versatile Blogger Award! If you haven’t already read her blog make sure you check out her adventures around the world. If you like haunted/paranormal travel tips her blog has many posts you will find interesting.

But now here is five facts of me you probably didn’t know:

  • I keep constantly dyeing my hair even if my mom hates it. And no I don’t mean blond, brown or other normal colors! Right now I have pink hair (it’s my personal favorite) but I have also had a little bit everything from bluish purple to carrot orange.

  • I have been addicted to kpop (or Korean pop) for years. And when I say for years I mean close to ten years now… I have endless list of favorite bands but to mention a few of them: Nu’est, BigBang, Super Junior, SHINee, Block B, BTS and B.A.P. (Maybe I should do longer post for this subject?)

  • I studied animal careering so in theory I would be qualified to work in zoo, animal clinic, farm or as dog sitter. I love animals and had a lot of fun when studying but it’s not something I want to do the rest of my life.

  • I’m bookworm. I love reading. That’s it nothing more to say here.

And then I have to nominate people for Versatile Blogger Award. I have been too busy to decide any one so I will just nominate anyone who wants! I think all bloggers or people who even try to write deserve to get awarded.

10 Reasons I Hate Living Alone

Few weeks ago on 10 Things Sunday I shared with you the 10 Reasons I Love Living Alone so I though it would be good to also talk about the bad sides of living alone. So here is my list of the negatives of living on your own.

1.Feeling lonely and being alone too much. When you come from lively household being suddenly alone in your own home feels strange. First it’s all fun and games but after a while it gets a little lonely.

2.No one takes care of you. You can mix up your sleeping schedule and eat unhealthy without anyone intervening. Also if you get sick you have to deal with it by yourself.

3.Doing all the adult stuff. Paying bills, repairing things and taking care of your home. It is surprisingly hard.

4.Having to do all the household chores by yourself. Cleaning, washing dishes, doing laundry, etc.

5.Being scared. If you are like me there is a lot of things to get scared when living alone. Murderers, clowns, thieves, anything abnormal like ghosts.

6.No one is waiting for you. When you return home, no one is welcoming you. No one knows if you get safely back to home because no one is there waiting for you.

7.Remembering the keys. This is really hard one for me. Only way for me to get in if I forget my keys is to call the janitor and it costs a lot of money.

8.Cooking. You have to come up with healthy varied diet by yourself. If you are as bad at kitchen as I am you know this one is nightmare… I haven’t yet burned down the whole building, so props to me!

9.Being paranoid what your neighbors are thinking about you and if you are being too loud. What if they hear me singing alone and think I’m crazy?

10. Always accidentally running out of the important household stuff like toilet paper, batteries and shampoo. Just yesterday I unintentionally destroyed my last toilet paper roll (don’t ask how that happened! I was cleaning, okay?) and had to run to the shop just before it’s closing time to buy more.

So these are my 10 bad things of living alone. What things do you dislike or like living alone? And is it just me or do you struggle with “normal” things like cleaning, cooking and shopping?

I hope you are having an amazing day!

Viivi Severina

Sunshine Blogger Award

Hello everyone! Today I will be answering to some Sunshine Blogger Award questions. It’s always honor to be nominated for blogger awards (and I just love to answer any kind of questions) so I’m really thankful for Len Kagami. I totally love Len’s blog so remember to check it out. His photos and stories are perfect to read if you need some wanderlust for your day.

What is Sunshine Blogger Award?

Sunshine blogger award is given out by bloggers to fellow bloggers who blog about positive, happy and inspiring content.

If my nominees want to accept the award, I encourage you to read and follow the rules below:

  • Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blogs.
  • Answer the eleven questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate eleven blogs to receive the award and write them eleven new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or your blog.

And here are my answers to the 11 questions:

1.When did you start blogging and why?

I think February? Almost a year ago (haven’t even realized it has been so long!) I started for many reasons. Firstly my English sucks so I want to get better at it. Secondly I hoped my blogging would maybe inspire other people or at least make them smile or dream. And thirdly I just simply love writing and travelling, so why not?

2.What is your favorite destination and why?

I think this is clear for anyone ever seen my blog (or maybe not?) but I have totally fallen in love with Japan and specially Kyoto. I don’t even have reason why. That city just feels like a home for me. It’s beautiful, full of kind people and has anything you need from perfect Japanese experience.

3.Name five destinations on your bucket list?

Check out my bucketlist from here. But five destinations are:

  • Santorini, Greece.
  • Seoul, South Korea
  • Australia or New Zealand
  • Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
  • Reykjavik, Iceland

4.Do you prefer to travel alone or with others?

Can’t decide so both.

5.Name three Must-have items for you while traveling (mobile phones and camera do not count, as we always bring them with us)?

Headphones (can’t live without them), woolen socks and my notebook.

6.Which meal do you think you cannot skip while traveling?

Dessert

7.Do you prefer local specialties or something you are familiar with like burger, pasta, etc.?

I eat everything but I prefer to try new things.

8.If you have tried some specialties, which dish left a strong impression on you?

Can I just say Sushi?

9.Who is the most interesting person you have ever met on your journey?

I have so many I can’t pick one! Let’s just stay being awake in hostel’s common room at evening forces you to meet all kind of people.

10.Assumed that you are a solo traveler, are you afraid to ask strangers for help, or maybe just take a picture for you?

I totally am solo traveller and this is kind of complicated question. If I need real help, like if I am hurt or in danger, I have no problems of asking help. But if I need to ask directions or someone to take photo of me I can’t do it. I’m scared of people.

11.Have you ever getting into trouble (e.g. scams, thefts, lost luggage, etc.) or any dangerous situation while traveling? How did you handle the situation?

This question inspired me to write my tomorrow’s travel blog post about this story I haven’t yet told. Let’s just say it has something to do with Japan, getting lost, abandoned amusement park and polices who don’t speak English. And like I usually handle all the situation I kept apologizing and apologizing until I go forgiven.

My questions for the nominees:

1.At what age did you travel for the first time? And where?
2.What are some places from your home country that you would recommend for travellers?
3.Tell us about person who inspires or motivates you
4.Describe your blog in three words
5.If you should decide one country to stay the rest of your life, what country would it be?
6.Share your best secret travel tip.
7.What is your own favorite post from your blog?
8.Have you travel plans for the year 2017?
9.If tomorrow you could get last minute flight to anywhere, what would be your destination?
10.What is the scariest part in travelling?
11.Do you have any words of gratitude to share with the people reading your blog?

The people I nominate:

I have always been bad and nominating people for things like this. I mean what if they don’t want to answer and I nominate them? So I will just nominate everyone reading this! I don’t even need to see your blog and I’m sure it is inspiring, cool and just plainly amazing.

Just write comment below if you want to take the nomination and answers the questions I wrote. I will then add your name here to the people I have nominated. (Also I always love to check out new blogs so anyone is welcome to share their blog in the comments.)

I hope you are having an amazing day!

10 Reasons I Love Living Alone

I think this is going to be new thing to make me write more! So every Sunday list of 10 things. You will get to know what I love, hate or just don’t understand in this world. Funny, right?

Today I wanted to share list of 10 reasons I love living alone (and probably the list of 10 things why my neighbors hate me…) I have now lived three months on my own so it was easy to made this list. Enjoy!

1.I can have late night movie marathon if I want without someone complaining I should be sleeping.

2.Cooking noodles at 4am and watching cat videos from youtube.

3.Sleeping where ever you want in the apartment. Sofa, kitchen floor, under my bed, where ever!

4.No one is eating my food, touching my stuff or stealing my things.

5.Peaceful quietness around the clock. (Expect when my neighbors decide to sing too loudly in the shower…)

6.Spending all day long in my pajamas and walking around in underwear.

7.Dancing and singing as loudly as I can. No one can hear me so no reasons to be embarrassed.

8.Being my messy self without anyone minding. (Well expect when someone decides to visit and I have to somehow clean the whole apartment in seconds…)

9.Feeling free fully capable adult. Even if I probably shouldn’t feel that way because I currently live with microwave and school food.

10.All the possibilities living alone makes. I can invite anyone I want to visit me. Be awake and do anything I want at any hour of the day. Go out whenever I want or stay inside the whole day. Just do anything without other people judging me.

Why do you love or hate living alone? Do you disagree or agree with my points?

And like usually remember to check out my “real” blog GoTravelGolbal. And if you want you can also follow me on Instagram and Twitter.

With love,

Viivi Severina

Not so anonymous blog anymore

So like you may know I have been writing my blogs secretly from my family and friends. Writing blog is quite embarrassing. My English isn’t that good and my posts plainly boring for the most of the time. I meant to tell them when I got thousand readers but internet beat me on that.

My blog isn’t secret anymore. My family and friends know about it.

How did that happen?

Well, let me tell you a story…

Week ago on Friday right after I had published my Photo Diary I opened my Instagram. (Once again shamelessly self promoting: Check out my Instagram for boring photos and me trying to be artistic! Spoiler: I’m only TRYING to be artistic…) But back to the story, it was quite a shock when first thing I saw was my cousins face and name pop up as person who had just followed me.

Apparently Instagram had suggested my account as person she maybe knows. It’s still mystery how that is possible. I have been over protective of my accounts and haven’t used them with my Facebook or other personal social medias. I mean I have used them only in my iPad and haven’t never used that iPad to log in my Facebook, etc. Internet knows too much…

But after my cousins knew I had to tell for my family  and best friends. Now I have too much stress about this writing thing! I never guessed it would be this had when you know someone important may read what you say. (I don’t mean you aren’t important but someone who knows who really knows my identity.)

So hello family and friends if you are reading this! Welcome to my blog and please don’t dig too deeply what I have been writing because I really have no idea what you may find.

With love,

Viivi Severina

Hello

It has been while hasn’t it! But now I’m back and trying to write more also in this blog. And shamelessly self promoting check out my TRAVEL BLOG. I write every Friday travel post there.

So what’s up with me?

I moved to new city, started new school and have new everything. With one word I have been busy. But I have also had fun. I’m studying business and feel like it is the right thing for me. I also do a lot of writing and translating work in Fiverr and feel like that is something I would enjoy doing the rest of my life. And then of course I have been writing my own travel blog that has grown too quickly.

In two days I will go to London for few days with my sister. And after that I have to return school where I will have busy two months before Christmas holiday. Going back to London feels extremely thrilling. I have been there three times and never get enough of the city.

We will also go to the Harry Potter studio tour! My childhood dreams coming to alive. Buying the ticket was hard but whatever for the Harry Potter experience.Any tips what I should do in London?

Youtube

So I promised that I will start youtube when my blogs have one thousand readers (and then I changed it to when my travel blog has one thousand readers…) That day is soon here! Like in week or something. I have been planning my channel and am excited but totally scared.

Being in front of camera isn’t something I’m good at and pronouncing English is something I’m even worse than just speaking for camera. Also until now my blogging identity has been anonymous but in videos I have to show myself. Once I but them online they will never be erased.

However even if I’m scared I will do this! It is one of my dreams. And it will make my English better and that was the reason I even started blogging.

I think there will be two channel I will make. One for travel videos and another for anything else. Not in the same time but eventually, someday in the far future. Or at least maybe… I hope I can do them.

If you have any tips for me I would love to hear them!

I hope you are doing well.

With love,

Viivi Severina

Monthly Addictions

I tried to do this thing of telling you about my favorite movies, music, etc. at the end of every week but like you may see I failed badly. So now lets try me writing about my current addictions in the end of every month.

My month in a few words:

September has been busy month for me. I started new school in unknown place in the end of last month and I got my first apartment on the first day of this month. My weeks have been full of school and getting used to living alone. There has been a few catastrophic accidents (like almost blowing up my microwave) but I have survived. All my weekends have gone by traveling between my new home and my childhood home. But I love this kind of small road trips through Finland so it’s okay.

img_9942

My September addictions…

Food

Almost free school food

In Finland our school food is either free or super cheap. Lunch does cost 1,40€ for me and I live for that moment of the day. I don’t have oven on my own apartment so I live on microwave food expect the school days. And our school food is really tasty and we have different kind of breads and salads to go with it.

.           .          .

Movies

Inside Out

September has been full of animation movies for me. Today I enjoyed the Pixar movie Inside Out about emotions living on teen girl’s brains. I loved it! It was kind of funny because my personality is a lot like the Sadness characters and I have a lot of friends who are just like the Happiness character. Even if I’m not always happy I still have my place in this world!

.           .          .

TV-series

Blindspot

This crime TV series started in Finland last month and I have been totally hooked. Strong cool female lead with mysterious past is something I will always enjoy to see. And good looking male lead is good bonus. The tattoos Jane Doe has on her body are amazing and make my aesthetic side scream of happiness.

.           .          .

Manga

Nanbaka

I found this manga to be good stress relief when I have been to busy to properly read any manga. The chapters are short and characters lovable. Who doesn’t love to read about handsome boys who just happen to be a little crazy dangerous criminals in prison? Sorry, I have problems with my bad boy complex…

.           .          .

Songs

Alma – Karma

I bring the karma to your game. You better run run run yeah! I was totally hooked with this amazing Finnish singer at the beginning of September and this song still makes me sing along. This is totally my fighting song or maybe better said my “I want to be badass” song because I’m totally loser.

Blackpink – Boombayah

I would love this band only for it’s name but fortunately their music is even better than the name. I think my new class mates must think I’m crazy because I may or may not always dance on my way to school while listening this song. Boombayah!

.           .          .

The important questions of this month…

Can I microwave frozen onion rings?

-Answer is: you shouldn’t probably test that. I think I almost caused fire by trying. Ups…

How do I change the battery of fire alarm?

-I haven’t yet figured this out. I will update you next month if I finally found someone to teach me how to change it…

How is living alone going?

-If we don’t think the few times I have almost killed my self or destroyed the whole house, I would say I have done quite well. I’m still alive and I think no one excepted that when I left home month ago!

Should I give up learning new languages?

-At the start of this month I got this good idea of going to Japanese language class. Now I’m in problems because I’m the worst in learning languages… Answer for this question is I should but I will probably never stop trying.

.           .          .

Where have I travelled?

streetart
My new home town has crazy street art!

This month has been busy one so I only travelled around Finland. I visited many cities like Rovaniemi, Kannus, Kalajoki, Kajaani and Oulu. I have also been adventuring around my new hometown.

.           .          .

Plans for October…

I have booked week long trip to London because I have time off from school. The rest of October I will be working and doing school stuff. Nothing extraordinary. Well expect I should start the Youtube channel I promised to make when I get 1 000 readers for my blog. (We already passed that point so I’m a little late…)

.           .          .

How has your month been? I hope you have had amazing time!

With love,

Viivi Severina

Busy Life

I have been so busy lately!

In the last few weeks I have…

Exhanged first time guest posts. Check my post HERE

Did my first translation gigs in Fiverr.

Moved to new city and now live alone for the first time on my own.

Went to school again to study bussiness.

Got finally my own domain for my travel blog. www.gotravelglobal.com

Try to make new friends but still failing badly in it…

Promised to write post every Wednesday to my travel blog but didn’t have time for that.

Travelled with my friend to Estonia. And planned too many new trips to do this year.

Have been staying too much inside doing nothing and being scared of the new city around me.

Lived week without microwave or over.

Drank too much cheap tea and tried to ask tarot cards to tell me my future.

Survived my first weeks living alone. Haven’t hurt myself (or my neighbours) yet!

Been total failure in life but still somehow got trought it and found some confidence in myself.
So this has been my life lately. How have you been?

With love,

Viivi Severina

I Need Insane Courage

Few days ago I published the article linked below in my travel blog. I really needed the message it was trying to tell. I have been missing from internet (meaning not much time for blogging, social media, etc.) for exactly week today. If you are now asking what happened to me, let me tell you shortly.

Week ago I got confirmation from school. I got in to study business. It was little crazy because I only had two days before my school would start far away from my home. I didn’t have apartment, nor did I know the city I would be living the next three years.

Somehow I survived to this new scary city and even successfully attended to my first four school days. Only negative sides I have to say is that I’m so tired my writing won’t probably make a lot of sense (sorry…)

Yeah, but just wanted to update you that I’m still alive and will soon write more about my embarrassing and interesting school life. (Embarrassing because I’m the world’s most awkward person and my attempts to make friends are not been pretty to watch…)

I hope you are having amazing start for your week!
With love,

Viivi Severina

I’m addicted to getting lost. Walking unknown paths, not having map, getting scared of unfamiliar streets. Some people would say I am crazy. And maybe that is why I keep most of my los…
