5 Memories From 2016

I was going through the drafts I have never published on this blog and I found this one. 5 memories from the year 2016. I know, I know. It is almost the summer of 2018 so this is super late. Better to get used to this because I have never been someone good with deadlines I give for myself… But hey I have already written this so here are some exceptional memories from my year 2016. I hope you enjoy!

1. First night alone in my first own home. I didn’t have any furniture so I had to sleep on the floor. I only had two blankets and a pillow. It was freezing and too quiet. All I was able to see was the streetlight outside of my window and the beautiful sky. Still, this is not a bad memory but rather a happy one. All I can remember is the amazing feeling of living on my own… New city, new school and me totally alone. It started as an adventure.

2. Completing my first Fiverr gig. And especially getting paid for the first travel article I wrote. Even now after doing this as my full-time job and writing hundreds of paid travel articles for different websites I can’t describe the feeling of earning money with my own writings. This is definitely the thing I want to do with my life. And I will never forget this memory, the unbelievable feeling that someone found my writing good enough to pay for it.

3. Road trip around France’s coastline. Me and two older ladies drove around France’s sunny seaside cities. We left in the early morning and returned after dark. Once again life showed me that traveling and adventuring to new places is my passion.

4. My first school day. I was scared to death because being social has never been my strength. Starting school after a long gap year seemed like the worst decision on that morning. I was staying at a cute hostel and decided to escape there on every break because I didn’t know what to do. It felt like starting the first grade all over again. Later on, I found a lot of friends but also dropped out because school is just not for me.

5. Realizing that my travel blog may be kind of “big deal”. It wasn’t just one moment and I haven’t yet fully understood it. But there have been many moments when someone says something or everytime someone comments on my blog that I realize how my blog has grown out of my hands. I mean I would have never guessed at the start of the year when I wrote my first post that at the end of the year I would have over thousand readers. Isn’t that crazy? (Yes, even now in 2018 with several blogs and thousands of readers this is still crazy…)

Do you have any crazy memories from 2016 (or later years) that you can remember? Or are you like me who forgets posts like this and the publishes them years later? Like always all comments are more than welcome!

With love,

Viivi Who Remembers

Daily blogging again!

I’m trying it again and this time I have a plan. Who knows if it will come true…

In January I promised myself to start daily blogging but then life happened like usually. It only took a few short months for my life to turn upside down. Dropping out from my university, taking the creative writing studies more seriously and deciding to go full time as a writer. And then in addition to all that I decided to start my own company.

It truly has been busy.

But then I spent two weeks holiday in Turkey last month. My life has been full of travels around the world for two years but the last time I went on real relaxation holiday was ages ago. Relaxing under a sun in all-inclusive resort made me realize the truth: I love writing but I want to be a blogger.

My dream has as long as I remember been to write a book. This shy awkward girl has had a head full of stories and plot ideas starting from the kindergarten. It’s still my dream but I’m growing and realizing more things about myself. Earlier this year I talked about not wanting to be full-time traveler even if that had been my aim for over a year. This is similar realization.

I love creative writing but that’s not something I want to do as a full-time job. Neither do I want to continue forever writing blog posts and content for others. Blogging. I seem to drift towards it again and again. It’s hard but so are all the best things in our lives. For some reason writing freely these silly things talking about myself, traveling, writing and books are just like a dream.

Could I do this as my job someday in the future?
Maybe, maybe not.
To find out I have to keep writing and that’s why I’m back at this daily blogging thing. Even if this never goes anywhere, I can later return back to these days thinking that I truly kept doing what I love despite opinions of everyone else.

So, are you ready? New posts should be coming every day!
I have promised myself that I can skip 3 days every month. If I don’t follow that rule, it means surviving the next month without any sweets. Terrible, right?

Here is my blogging schedule that may change at any time:

Mondays: Book reviews
Tuesdays: Life as a wannabe girlboss
Wednesdays: Travel blogging
Thursday: Writing my review blog
Friday: Blog post about creative writing
Saturday: More reviews
Sunday: Posts here on my lost side blog

Anyone else wanna try this impossible challenge with me? Like always all comments are more than welcome. Have a nice day (or night in my case)!

With love,
Lost Viivi

Low point in my life

You know you have a problem when your procrastination has found a totally new level of stupidity. You are leaving away for over a week tomorrow morning but haven’t even packed yet because you’re stuck watching coin pusher and claw machine videos from the internet. Why the heck coin pusher and claw machines of all the videos you could possibly enjoy? It’s so addicting and especially when you should be packing, working and cleaning.

I was doing so good with my daily blogging. For a week and a half. I posted every day and it was so much fun. Then I decided to skip one day. Just one day… That’s not a bad thing, right? But then that one day changed to two days and now almost to three days and it feels again so hard to come up with ideas for posts. Look at me, I’m just complaining. It’s the easiest form of writing: bad feelings and stupid worries.

But at least I am traveling tomorrow. And my week has been full of meeting my best friends. I have written a lot and worked regularly. Everything should be good but it’s just hard to get anything done. It’s almost midnight and I should still do so many things before going to sleep. Maybe just one more claw machine video. Ten more minutes and then I will continue my chores… or not…

But aren’t those videos just so addicting? Now I want to play some arcade games.

With love,

Viivi with problem

I can’t skip a day…

Hello everyone!

I didn’t know what to write today. I’m sleeping on my friend’s floor, the day is almost changing and I have promised to blog every day. It’s easy to write posts when you have one specific subject but this blog is something different. “Write about anything that’s on your mind.” So I was thinking when starting this specific blog. I was sure it would be easy but I was not.

How to come up with blog text idea from scratches? The only solution I know is to just write. Write even if it sounds stupid, and keep writing even if your whole mind is empty. They teach us this technique in university when learning about creative writing. Usually, you are not meant to show these texts for people. You’re writing for yourself. Just for yourself. And now I’m writing for everyone who knows me and for so many people who have no idea who I’m.

Okay, write about anything that’s currently on your mind. What’s in my mind? What am I thinking?

We watched today the last part of the Lord of the Rings. I had almost forgotten how much I love that movie. The plot, the characters and, of course, Legolas. Don’t we all love Legolas? If you don’t, there is something really wrong with your brain (just kidding).

Maybe I should list all the characters I have fallen in love with? That would be a long post. It would start with characters from children’s series. Robin Hood from the Disney movie and Odd from that cartoon series Code Lyoko. There would be Legolas and Draco Malfoy, Han Solo from Star Wars and let’s not forget the endless list of anime and manga characters. I always find that one character and their story more appealing than the movie or book as a whole.

Sorry for this odd, short and random posts. I promised to write daily but I never said these would be quality texts. But at least you will always learn something new about me and get a sneak peek to my brain. Do you ever have a hard time finding subjects for your blog posts? Or have you ever tried this style of just writing about anything and nothing in your mind?

Problems With Studying and Parents

Does anyone know if there is way to make my self hosted wordpress.org site to appear in the wordpress.com reader? I am super happy that I decided to first try out this with my side blog and not with my real blog… This is hard!

And if you are interested behind that link you can find my newest diary post. Thanks!

The Versatile Blogger Award

I haven’t been writing this blog that much lately (I am going to change that, okay!) but my travel blog has been active.

I got nominated in my travel blog for Versatile Blogger Award by The Wandering Itinerant. I am super thankful for that because it still feels so odd that someone would think my blog is worth of mentioning! If you haven’t yet read her blog, do it now. Her texts are always interesting and give me positive vibes every time I read them.

The Rules

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Share 7 facts about yourself.
  3. Nominate 10 other bloggers of your choice.

  5. Blogging is still huge mystery for me. I just write and have no idea what else I should do. Same with social media.
  6. My life is currently hectic because I have bad habit of buying flight tickets without thinking my decisions more than a few hours.
  7. I have always been the quiet shy girl who let’s others speak before her but makes her views know if it is important.

One Year Blogging (Award)

Somehow I only write this blog when my travel blog gets nominated for blogger awards… (Sorry, I have meant to write more and I will try to write more in the future!) So, you may not be surprised that I am back here writing because lovely blogger behind Teacakesand nominated me for Blogger Recognition Award! Remember to check out her blog because even if she is just starting she is amazing writer. (And who wouldn’t love blog talking about travelling and tea?)

How my blog started?

I think the timing for this is too good to be true. I started my blog GoTravelGlobal  one year ago. (4.2.2016) How did that happen? I have no idea… I had returned from Japan a few months back and had still my ‘after long time travel depression’. I have always been person who writes when they are stressed, sad, happy or literally just feeling anything. So I started my blog to collect some memories I had in Japan, share new memories because I was already planning my new trip to France and of course to learn English.

At first my blog was meant for just myself. You know a little bit like diary so I could return to my memories later on when I am too old to remember anything. (I can’t usually even remember what I did last weekend so this is probably a good plan…) I was even embarrassed and I still am because my English has too many mistakes and the things I write are sometimes just plainly boring.

So my blog which currently has over 1 500 readers (how the heck did that happen??) and that I write two times every week was once just something small I decided to do for myself. If I can do this and meet some amazing people because I keep writing, anyone can do it!

Advice For New Bloggers:

I don’t know if I am the right person to give advice. I just go with the flow. Keep writing and don’t care what others say but always remember to be nice for everyone. This may sound corny but it is the simple truth.

I have seen some bloggers who either change their style depending what the readers like OR start ignoring all people reading their blog. Find the right balance between is my advice. Keep being you and writing things you love while using your own voice. And at the same time listen your readers even the ones who have different point of view from yours. Always answer to everyone who takes their time to comment your writings and maybe even check out their blog. Be kind to everyone but don’t try too hard to make everyone like you.

Sorry… This didn’t probably make any sense!

And now to the part I always find hard to do… Nominating blogs! I may be a little bit socially awkward so usually I just don’t do this part. However there is so many amazing blogs I have just found or that I have been reading for a while that I wanted to tell them how much I appreciate their writings. So remember to check out these amazing seven blogs I collected to nominate!

Kasiawrites

The Bubbly Traveler

Zo Around The World

Traveling Matters to us

.        .        .

If you want to be involved in the Blogger Recognition Award these are some simple rules:

Give a brief story of how your blog started.

Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

Select 10 other bloggers you want to give this award to.

So thank you for everyone reading this blog or my GOTRAVELGLOBAL blog. I hope you are having an amazing day! (And btw I would love you forever if you followed my blog’s Facebook! No worries I am not going to spam your page but you will get my newest travel post two times every week.)

Sunshine Blogger Award

Hello everyone! Today I will be answering to some Sunshine Blogger Award questions. It’s always honor to be nominated for blogger awards (and I just love to answer any kind of questions) so I’m really thankful for Len Kagami. I totally love Len’s blog so remember to check it out. His photos and stories are perfect to read if you need some wanderlust for your day.

What is Sunshine Blogger Award?

Sunshine blogger award is given out by bloggers to fellow bloggers who blog about positive, happy and inspiring content.

If my nominees want to accept the award, I encourage you to read and follow the rules below:

  • Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blogs.
  • Answer the eleven questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate eleven blogs to receive the award and write them eleven new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or your blog.

And here are my answers to the 11 questions:

1.When did you start blogging and why?

I think February? Almost a year ago (haven’t even realized it has been so long!) I started for many reasons. Firstly my English sucks so I want to get better at it. Secondly I hoped my blogging would maybe inspire other people or at least make them smile or dream. And thirdly I just simply love writing and travelling, so why not?

2.What is your favorite destination and why?

I think this is clear for anyone ever seen my blog (or maybe not?) but I have totally fallen in love with Japan and specially Kyoto. I don’t even have reason why. That city just feels like a home for me. It’s beautiful, full of kind people and has anything you need from perfect Japanese experience.

3.Name five destinations on your bucket list?

Check out my bucketlist from here. But five destinations are:

  • Santorini, Greece.
  • Seoul, South Korea
  • Australia or New Zealand
  • Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
  • Reykjavik, Iceland

4.Do you prefer to travel alone or with others?

Can’t decide so both.

5.Name three Must-have items for you while traveling (mobile phones and camera do not count, as we always bring them with us)?

Headphones (can’t live without them), woolen socks and my notebook.

6.Which meal do you think you cannot skip while traveling?

Dessert

7.Do you prefer local specialties or something you are familiar with like burger, pasta, etc.?

I eat everything but I prefer to try new things.

8.If you have tried some specialties, which dish left a strong impression on you?

Can I just say Sushi?

9.Who is the most interesting person you have ever met on your journey?

I have so many I can’t pick one! Let’s just stay being awake in hostel’s common room at evening forces you to meet all kind of people.

10.Assumed that you are a solo traveler, are you afraid to ask strangers for help, or maybe just take a picture for you?

I totally am solo traveller and this is kind of complicated question. If I need real help, like if I am hurt or in danger, I have no problems of asking help. But if I need to ask directions or someone to take photo of me I can’t do it. I’m scared of people.

11.Have you ever getting into trouble (e.g. scams, thefts, lost luggage, etc.) or any dangerous situation while traveling? How did you handle the situation?

This question inspired me to write my tomorrow’s travel blog post about this story I haven’t yet told. Let’s just say it has something to do with Japan, getting lost, abandoned amusement park and polices who don’t speak English. And like I usually handle all the situation I kept apologizing and apologizing until I go forgiven.

My questions for the nominees:

1.At what age did you travel for the first time? And where?
2.What are some places from your home country that you would recommend for travellers?
3.Tell us about person who inspires or motivates you
4.Describe your blog in three words
5.If you should decide one country to stay the rest of your life, what country would it be?
6.Share your best secret travel tip.
7.What is your own favorite post from your blog?
8.Have you travel plans for the year 2017?
9.If tomorrow you could get last minute flight to anywhere, what would be your destination?
10.What is the scariest part in travelling?
11.Do you have any words of gratitude to share with the people reading your blog?

The people I nominate:

I have always been bad and nominating people for things like this. I mean what if they don’t want to answer and I nominate them? So I will just nominate everyone reading this! I don’t even need to see your blog and I’m sure it is inspiring, cool and just plainly amazing.

Just write comment below if you want to take the nomination and answers the questions I wrote. I will then add your name here to the people I have nominated. (Also I always love to check out new blogs so anyone is welcome to share their blog in the comments.)

I hope you are having an amazing day!
With love,

Viivi Severina

Should I get domain and hosting?

My travel blog will soon have 400 readers. For me that feels unbelievable. Why would so many people want to read what I have to say?

But today we are not going to talk about my feelings but rather difficult matter I have been thinking about. That is:

Should I get domain and hosting?

I want my own domain (you know he web address without that wordpress word in it) but it takes money. Not a much but still money. I need hosting because my photos are going to take so much space that the WordPress platform isn’t enough for me. Hosting takes even more money.

So what to do?

I have tried to read and explore what others recommend. I’m still totally lost. I don’t want to pay much because this is not probably going anywhere but I hope someday this blog would be more than just a hobby.

I have some candidate websites I have been thinking to use (I will list them and their good and bad points below). Has anyone any recommendations? I would take all tips with gratitude!

I have been wondering between two sites Hostgator and Bluehost. Or then just upgrading WordPress. I’m not sure which one is the best option… Why is this so hard?

Maybe I should just wait for a while longer? 400 readers isn’t that much…

With troubled feelings,

Viivi Severina
